Tropicana Canada has promoted Andrea Graham to senior director of marketing. She has been with the Mississauga, Ont.-based fruit juice company for five years, most recently as director of marketing. Graham oversaw the launch of Tropicana Calcium & Vitamin C Supplement, as well as Tropicana’s most recent ad campaign.
Brad Keates is the new director of marketing at Sun Microsystems of Canada, in Markham, Ont. Most recently manager of the company’s Customer Engineering Centre, Keates will be responsible for the development of marketing strategy for Sun’s products and services.
Choice Hotels Canada has promoted two of its employees – Katrina Sagan and David Beers – to executive director of sales and executive director of marketing, respectively. Sagan, formerly national sales director, will oversee all sales efforts for the Toronto-based chain’s seven Choice brands, while Beers, most recently director of graphic design and strategic partnerships, will handle its marketing efforts. The two positions replace the combined marketing and sales post held by Mark Pearce, who was promoted to VP, international sales and marketing for Choice Hotels International last May.
AGENCIES:
Toronto-based Vickers & Benson Companies has named Scott McPherson account director on the Canadian Tourism Commission business. McPherson was most recently director of marketing for Tennis Canada. Vickers & Benson Companies, which holds Canadian government accounts, is a sister company to Vickers & Benson Arnold (formerly Vickers & Benson), which recently changed its name to reflect a change in ownership.
Ginette Fortin has assumed the newly created position of account director, client services, at Montreal-based agency PALM Publicité Marketing. Fortin, who hails from Groupaction/J. Walter Thompson, where she was VP of the advisory and strategic planning group, will work on the Tourism Quebec, BF Goodrich/Uniroyal and Ultramar accounts, among others.
Toronto agency Sharpe Blackmore recently promoted four of its employees. Caralyne Donnet has moved up to account director from account supervisor on the Dell account; Elaine Mah to account supervisor from senior account executive on Intel; Elizabeth McGroarty to account executive from account co-ordinator on Xerox; and Elle Tan to media planner from media assistant. Meanwhile, the agency has also beefed up its account services team with several hires. Working on the Dell account are Louise Sheedy as a business analyst; Julia Kierans as account supervisor; Jennifer Hrenko as account executive; and Tim Johnson as strategic consultant. Also, Chris Kuilman is the new account director for Volvo, Megan Krueger is account co-ordinator for Marcom Express and Wendy Robertson will work on several accounts as a strategic consultant. Jeffery Thibodeau, meanwhile, has joined the agency as group media director.
Kristine Sherliker has been named a media supervisor at OMD Canada, Toronto. Sherliker, who previously worked on the Priszm account, will be a member of the agency’s radio buying unit.
Richard Peirce has joined Toronto-based MediaVest Worldwide (Canada) as senior VP and GM. He comes to the Toronto-based media management firm from MBS/The Media Company, where he was most recently a managing partner. Meanwhile, Andrew Drury, formerly an account manager on Unilever at HYPN, has joined the agency as planner.
Audience – The Invertising Agency, based in Toronto with an affiliate in Bermuda, has promoted two members of its staff. Jim Rea, formerly creative director, is now the firm’s director of creative development, while Tim Morawetz, who was creative director on the Imperial Oil account, is now strategic creative director. Audience specializes in motivating, rewarding and training employees.
MEDIA:
WSN, the new national women’s sports network, has named Sue Prestedge as its senior VP. Prestedge, formerly director of the broadcast journalism program at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ont., will oversee day-to-day operations, as well as marketing and strategic planning.
Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting has promoted Janet Eastwood to executive VP, marketing, communications and creative services. Eastwood, formerly senior VP, will oversee marketing and communications strategies for the launch of the broadcaster’s new digital channels.
