Triple O’s touts fresh food on the go

Hoping to appeal to Vancouver urbanites who are looking for a healthy but quick alternative to a lengthy sit-down meal, White Spot Restaurants has started a new restaurant concept called Triple O’s.

An addition to the White Spot family, which already has 47 family/casual restaurants in b.c., the new concept is a casual, counter-service restaurant in the heart of downtown Vancouver – at Robson and Thurlow Streets.

The restaurant, which will seat about 50 patrons, has a retro-diner look, featuring black-and-white checkerboard tiles, contemporary colors and a streamlined version of the original restaurant’s menu.

‘It’s the same high-quality ingredients and legendary taste – just quicker service,’ says Louise Larsen, White Spot’s director of marketing. ‘It’s fresh food on the go!’

And in an area that has heavy traffic from local businesses, residents and tourists, the company is confident it’s a concept that will do well.

The diner-style menu features burgers, hand-cut fries, old-fashioned dipped ice cream and the original Triple O – a deluxe burger topped with secret Triple O sauce – after which the establishment is named.

Since opening the week of August 20th, the restaurant has relied on what it calls a ‘soft launch’ approach, consisting of small-scale opening festivities, although Larsen says advertising has not been ruled out in the future. Until then, White Spot’s aor, Vancouver’s Wasserman & Partners is working on Triple O’s’ menu, tray mat design and take-out packaging.

White Spot’s original logo has been modified with the addition of the Triple O’s name over a streaking arrow.

If the concept does well, and Larsen says early indications are promising, more locations are planned.

White Spot is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vancouver-based, independent food service company Shato Holdings.
