Roots gets a new CEO

Roots has appointed a new president and CEO, naming Jim A. Gabel to the role.

Gabel was most recently president of The Performance Group of Wolverine World Wide in Michigan, where he oversaw the brands Saucony, Merrell and Chaco. Prior to that, he was president of Adidas Group Canada and president of Reebok North America.

The new appointment, which was effective Feb. 24, is part of Roots’ plan to grow its brand globally.

Roots also announced that Jim Rudyk is now its CFO, another hire to help boost is growth plan. Most recently CFO of Shred-It, Rudyk helped grow that company from about $200 million to more than $700 million in revenue and expand to 17 countries, according to a press release from Roots.

Last October, Searchlight Capital Partners acquired majority ownership of Roots, which currently has 245 retail stores in Canada, the U.S. and Asia. Co-founders Michael Budman and Don Green are still part of the company’s board of directors.
