The results of on-going agency reviews are in.

– Canada Trust, which has hired its first agency in 10 years, awarded Doner Schur Peppler with its account, worth between $6 million and $10 million, after a review of 14 Toronto shops.

Don Park, Canada Trust vice-president marketing services, retail, says it was not an easy decision since all four short-listed agencies made first-class presentations.

Agency and client will enjoy a four- to six-month get-acquainted period before Doner Schur Peppler’s first campaign.

Media Buying Services of Toronto continues to handle placement for Canada Trust, an assignment held for more than four years.

– Marketel of Montreal has been chosen by the Greater Montreal Convention & Tourism Bureau (L’Office de tourisme et des congres du grand Montreal, or octgm) to handle its three-year advertising assignment.

Valued at about $5 million a year, Marketel’s mandate is to promote the city as a tourist and convention destination.

The short-list included PNMD/ Publitel and Young & Rubicam.

– A joint effort by Toronto’s Ryan MacDonald Edwards and Temple Scott Associates of Ottawa picked up a new $1.5-million assignment from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment.

The advertising will promote waste management and environmental issues typified by Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, the ministry’s Three Rs program.

Also on the short-list were Toronto shops Burghardt Wolowich Crunkhorn Kibble, Public Good Social Marketing/Vickers & Benson, and Manifest Communications.

– The Vancouver office of Cossette Communication-Marketing has won the agency of record for Whistler Mountain Ski Corp., estimated at $1 million.

Big House Communications, Vancouver, was the runner-up.

Incumbent McKim Baker-Lovick/BBDO did not participate in the review.

– In Ottawa, Hewson Bridge & Smith has been awarded the $625,000 ad account for the Canadian Museum of Civilization across the river in Hull, Qu
