Shoppers Drug Mart acct. goes on the block

hats have been thrown into the ring for the $60-million Shoppers Drug Mart account, although the rules of the race are still unknown.

The word is out that Shoppers is under review after 30 years with Toronto’s Kert Advertising, and several ad agencies have already indicated their interest in the business.

Strategy was unable to determine how long the review process has been under way or how far it has progressed.

Gordon Stromberg, senior vice-president of advertising for Shoppers, says company policy dictates that the review of the account is an internal business decision not to be discussed publicly until a formal announcement of an agency change is issued.

Chris Morris, who has been listed as director of creative services at Kert for the past few years, is no longer with the agency.

Brooks says Morris has worked on a freelance basis for the firm and, although no longer there full time, could be involved in other projects later.
