prepare yourself for Mortal Monday on Sept. 13, the day when Acclaim Entertainment is staging the simultaneous, worldwide release of Mortal Kombat – the long-awaited video game version of the popular arcade game.

A US$10-million worldwide advertising campaign is supporting the release with about $750,000 targetted for Canada.

Mortal Kombat is also the first game to be released in four formats: Super NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), Sega Genesis and versions for hand-held games, Nintendo Game Boy and Sega Game Gear.

Television advertising is appearing nationally for four weeks and radio promotions are planned for Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.

Advertising was created by u.s. agency rda of New York with point-of-purchase material handled in-house by Acclaim.

Lackey Advertising of Mississauga, Ont. has co-ordinated and handled placement for the Canadian campaign. PS
