Colgate consolidates Mennen with FCB

McCann-Erickson Advertising, an Interpublic Group agency, has lost the Mennen brands to Foote Cone & Belding of Toronto as part of a worldwide consolidation by Colgate-Palmolive.

In addition to Mennen, fcb agencies are now responsible for all household surface and fabric care products, while Young & Rubicam has all the Colgate oral care brands.

The account move has been expected since 1992, when Colgate acquired the brands, because Interpublic is an agency network used by major competitor Unilever.

In the u.s., the US$30-million Mennen business was pulled from Interpublic Group agencies, McCann-Erickson (deodorant) and Lowe & Partners/SMS (aftershave and baby products.)
