Bay card offers perks to encourage loyalty

The hudson’s Bay Company has relaunched its credit card with a new customer loyalty component.

Some of the perks for Bay Card holders include a $5 bonus, in Bay Card Dollars, for each month that purchases made with the card at the department store exceed $100; immediate savings of 5% to 35% on purchases made with the card at several unrelated automotive suppliers, and a 2% rebate in Bay Card Dollars for gas purchases at Esso, Sunoco, Turbo and Payless gas stations.

Participating automotive suppliers – 10,000 outlets across Canada – include Mr. Lube; BF Goodrich, Uniroyal Tires, Bridgestone/Firestone, Michelin, and Dunlop service centre and tire dealers; Standard and VitroPlus auto glass chains, and Discount and Tilden car and truck rental companies.

The Bay’s agency, The Saffer Group of Toronto, has created four 15-second tv commercials to introduce the new Bay Card.

The campaign expands on the department store’s ‘Your Better Price Advantage’ theme.

The Hudson’s Bay Company stripes figure prominently in each spot, on the trunk of a car in one, and as the tread marks left by a car tire in another.

Bob Peter, president of The Bay, appears in a cameo role, delivering the line, ‘With the new Bay Card, you hold the advantage.’
