Sun-Rype Products has added a line of Chewy Granola Bars to its snack food line-up.
The new bars are made with natural ingredients and have no added preservatives or artificial flavors.
There are three flavors: Rainbow Chip Butterscotch, designed mainly for children, Cranberry Orange and Pineapple Chocolate Chip.
Sun-Rype, of Kelowna, b.c., first entered the granola bar category two years ago when it introduced a dipped granola bar line – granola bars dipped in either chocolate, yogurt or peanut butter.
Advertising for Chewy Granola Bars comes from Sun-Rype’s agency, Palmer Jarvis Advertising, in Vancouver, and includes inserts in consumer magazines and a free-standing insert with coupons in daily newspapers.
Another part of the launch was a short-term sampling program at ymca and ywca day care centres in major Western Canadian markets.
The company also has an annual deal with bus company Greyhound Lines of Canada to provide juice and granola bars to passengers on its intercity routes.
Sun-Rype, incorporated in 1946, is Western Canada’s largest juice maker, with distribution as far east as Thunder Bay, Ont.
As well, some retailers, such as Safeway and Costco, often stock Sun-Rype products in their outlets across Canada.
