Thomas J. Lipton, a division of Unilever Canada, is targetting the prodigious tea drinkers of the Maritimes with a newly launched campaign called ‘Tea & U.’

A 30-second tv commercial from J. Walter Thompson, Toronto will be seen in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

The spot captures the feel of the region with clips of Maritimers breaking from daily activities for tea, highlighted by lilting background music and the natural beauty of the Maritimes – the coast line complete with lighthouse, the sea and lush farm fields.

The voiceover is a warm and folksy male voice, accompanied by the product shot and ‘The unique blend of Red Rose tea.’

The commercial ends with a shot of a tugboat captain enjoying a mug of tea, and the line, ‘When you spend your life close to the water, it seems you just know how to make the most of it.’
