Michel Frappier, who started working with Toronto-based mdc as a consultant last month, has been named president of the company’s Communications and Marketing Services Division.
Frappier had been with Thomson Newspaper Corporation as senior vice-president since July 1992, but left earlier this year when Thomson shut down its new products division.
Before Thomson, he was with Montreal-based Quebecor Group as senior vice-president/Central Canada.
Late of McCann
Frappier joined Quebecor after leaving the post of president and chief operating officer of McCann-Erickson Advertising in Toronto in August 1990.
In his new position, Frappier is responsible for mdc’s advertising, public relations, packaging and promotion companies, including Ambrose Carr Linton Kelly, Black Diamond Incentives, Bryan Mills & Associates, Jeffrey Elliot Communications, LBJ Advertising, Savage Sloan Limited and Strategies International.
Three divisions
mdc, which is traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Electronic Bulletin Board in the u.s., has three operating divisions: marketing and communications services, electronic information services and specialty printing.
The company recently bought a majority interest in direct sales company, Regal Greetings & Gifts.
