The Interpublic Group of Companies has bought 25-year-old Los Angeles-based Western International Media.

Western International bills US$1 billion annually from its 32 offices in the u.s., and Canadian offices in Toronto and Vancouver.

Dennis Holt, Western International president, chief executive officer and founder, says the company will continue to operate autonomously and will not be merged into other Interpublic operations.

Holt says the company’s purchase by Interpublic gives Western International the money needed to make its own acquisitions and expand into Europe.

Interpublic is the parent of Lintas Worldwide, McCann-Erickson Worldwide, The Lowe Group and Ammirati & Puris. PS
