Toronto-based Robertson & Robertson Insurance Brokers has launched a campaign targeted to pleasure boaters.
The campaign, created by Griffin Bacal Volny of Toronto, uses humor (a man in a bathtub, another with an inflatable duck around his waist) to demonstrate the need for Robertson & Robertson’s marine insurance policies for sailboats, powerboats and personal watercraft (pwc.)
Two of the ads are running now in outdoor and boating trades. The third will launch in Cottage Life in the spring.
Robertson & Robertson is introducing specialized insurance, called The Wave Plan, for pwc and jet boats, such as the Sea-Doo.
Increased popularity of pwcs in the 1990s, with twice as many sold in the first six months of 1995 as were sold in all of 1993, created a new insurance need in the marketplace and Robertson & Robertson claims to be the first to fulfill it.
Two other insurance plans, called Skippers’ Plan, covers sail boats and power boats.
