Subaru Canada has consolidated its advertising with Temerlin McClain of Dallas, Tex., the aor for Subaru of America.
The business will be managed by the Toronto office of Temerlin McClain, which shares office space with sister agency Bozell Palmer Bonner.
Temerlin McClain also has the Canadian assignment for American Airlines.
Subaru spending was $4.5 million last year, according to A.C. Nielsen, with $2.7 million for dealer advertising and the remainder for corporate advertising.
For the past two years, the account has been handled by Quarry Communications of Waterloo, Ont.
During this time, Subaru has been following the u.s. marketing and advertising strategy.
Quarry handled media placement for both English and French markets and adapted u.s. advertising.
Subaru creative has featured Paul Hogan, the Australian actor of Crocodile Dundee fame, since the introduction of the all-wheel drive Subaru Outback sports utility wagon last fall.
Subaru Canada says this approach has almost doubled market share and the company reports a 71% increase in sales for the first three months of 1996, compared to the same period last year.
