Shoppers debuts franchise at Sick Kids’ Hospital: Hospital to act as franchisee

Shoppers Drug Mart will open its first in-hospital store next month.

The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto will run the franchise, which will be located on the main floor of the building.

The facility, popularly known as ‘Sick Kids’ Hospital,’ provides medical treatment to children across Canada.

‘This will be a great opportunity for Sick Kids because it will be the franchisee,’ says David Bloom, Chairman and ceo of Shoppers Drug Mart.

Bloom says he feels it is fitting that the drug store chain opens a store at Sick Kids because sdm has been actively involved in children’s groups and charities for several years.

‘We’re the biggest supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Association and sponsor 1,200 children’s sports teams across the country,’ says Bloom.

In the fall, Shoppers will launch a ‘Hoops for Kids’ campaign with The Toronto Raptors basketball team. Corporate sponsors will donate money to children’s charities whenever the Raptors score.

Shoppers Drug Mart is a Canadian company that was founded in 1968.

It currently has 850 stores across the country and annual sales exceeding $4 billion.
