Provigo of Montreal has split with Cossette Communication-Marketing, its agency of 20 years, and will be reviewing a select group of Quebec agencies for its Provigo Supermarkets business.
The 1995 media spend for the 155-store grocery chain was $3.5 million, according to ACNielsen.
Cossette and its Grapheme division will continue to do some work for Provigo’s Experiences and Generation Zel private labels.
Marie Bernier, Provigo vice-president, communications and public affairs, says the company would like to have a new agency in place before Christmas.
She says Provigo is looking for a small- to medium-sized agency, not as large as Cossette.
Provigo, which spent a total of $8.3 million on media in 1995, also operates 70 Maxi stores in Quebec and the 100-store Loeb chain in Ontario.
Montreal-based Groupe Everest handles advertising for Maxi, while Saffer Group of Toronto has the Loeb account.
