DMB&B contemplates potential merger: Move would help fill top spot

D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles Canada is said to be exploring the possibility of a merger or alliance with a small or mid-sized Canadian shop to help fill the void at the top of the agency.

The search for a president or chairman has been underway for nearly 10 months and a suitable candidate has not yet been found.

A merger with another firm would bring with it someone to take over the helm.

dmb&b has been without a resident chairman and ceo since the departure of Raj Marwah in early February.

In the interim, Norm Sherman has been juggling that role with his duties in New York, which include executive vice-president of dmb&b and global brand equity director for three Procter & Gamble healthcare product categories.

Sherman is not commenting on the search for an agency partner but others at dmb&b are optimistic that it will be resolved soon.
