The Liquor Licence Board of Ontario has approved a re-worked version of ‘Worth A Dry’ a potentially controversial tv commercial featuring two women kissing but due to scheduling of other brand advertising, Molson Breweries will likely not run the spot until later this year.
The Molson Dry commercial, originally scheduled to run June 7, was held back by the llbo but not because of the lesbian kiss, as some insiders believed. Rather, the role the beer played in the ad that of a device for picking up beautiful women was called into question.
According to Diana Rose, manager of marketing public relations at Molson, the spot has been re-edited to remove the perception that the man is buying a beer for a woman as a catalyst for meeting her.
The spot is part of a campaign for Molson Dry from BBDO Canada that introduces the new tag line, ‘It’s not just beer. It’s Dry.’
