For the time being at least, it’s business as usual for Mazda Canada and its agency FCB Canada.
The resignation by Foote Cone & Belding Worldwide of the us$240 million Mazda Motors of America business did not affect the Canadian account.
David Haan, president and ceo of FCB Canada, says Mazda, an FCB client since 1970, was resigned in the u.s. because of a conflict with Bozell Worldwide client Chrysler Corp.
He says the resignation was part of the deal surrounding the purchase of Bozell by fcb’s holding company, True North Communications, but didn’t apply to Canada because Chrysler isn’t a Bozell client here.
Haan d’esn’t know if there are any changes in store for Canada when the business is assigned to a new agency.
