Patrick McDougall has left BBDO Vancouver a little over a year after signing on as executive vice-president and manager director of the agency.
He is being replaced by Gordon Munroe, who moves back to his hometown after a term as vice-president of marketing at Vincor International, a Mississauga, Ont. wine producer and marketer of brands such as Inniskillin, Jackson-Triggs and Sawmill Creek.
McDougall is returning to Toronto to start his new job as president of NetStar Sales for NetStar Communications on Sept. 15. He will be responsible for business development on the company’s sports properties, The Sports Network and Les Reseau des Sports.
NetStar owns tsn, rds, Discovery Channel, event production company Dome Productions and has part of Viewer’s Choice Canada, interactive sports gaming firm NTN Canada, and the St. Clair Group, an event marketing company.
tsn is a client of BBDO Retail, Toronto.
McDougall had been president and ceo of the Association of Canadian Advertisers for nearly two and a half years when he moved to bbdo.
Before aca, he held senior positions at the Ontario Lottery Corporation, Canadian Satellite Communications, Vickers & Benson Advertising, and McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada.
Munroe’s career has included stints on both the client and agency sides of the business with companies including Nabisco, A&W Food Services, Alberta Distillers and McCann-Erickson (now MacLaren McCann).
