New outdoor format

Out-of-home advertisers have one more option these days, thanks to a system that allows the creation of weather- and uv ray-resistant signage using a large-format ink-jet printer.

Signs of up to 36 inches can be printed on an HP DesignJet CP series printer using the HP DesignJet CP Ink System UV. They are guaranteed not to fade for 24 months outdoors or five years indoors.

The new technology is a result of a partnership between 3M and Hewlett-Packard Canada, with 3M supplying the special imaging media and overlaminates, and hp supplying the new inks.

The target audience for the new system is print-for-profit businesses, such as copy shops.

Business-to-business print advertising, positioning the new system as both accessible and affordable, has been created by Goodby Silverstein of San Francisco and placed by Saatchi & Saatchi of Toronto.
