Doner Canada has undergone a restructuring in the wake of the departure of three senior executives who left to form their own agency.
Adrian Taylor, Doner Canada president since late 1997, along with Linda Worrell, vice-president direct response and Brad Myers, vice-president, creative director, have left to form Taylor, Worrell & Myers.
Taylor says there are no Doner clients following the trio to the new shop, although he expects to soon make some announcements concerning affiliations and partnerships between TW&M and a media buying company, a U.K. agency and an agency in the U.S.
David Kiley, Doner spokesperson, says the new configuration of Doner Canada puts it more in line with the ‘hub and spoke’ strategy and structure of its U.S. parent.
Explaining that the Doner offices in Baltimore, Cleveland and Los Angeles all report to the Detroit head office, he says, ‘We don’t see any reason to have a separate hierarchy for Canada.’
Kiley says creative for Doner Canada’s two largest clients, Canadian Tire and Mazda, has always been handled out of Detroit, as it has for Future Shop, a client the agency handles both north and south of the border.
Some work for other clients on its roster, including Fuji Film, Hunt-Wesson Foods, Purolator Courier, Leon’s Furniture and The Parts Source, is handled in Canada.
The new Doner Canada management group consists of Jack Steckel, who joined the agency as senior vice-president, group management supervisor. The other four members are senior vice-president, group management supervisors, Sylvia Augaitis (account director on Canadian Tire), Pam Gilbert, and Lisa Louchart (account director on Mazda), along with Marie Gordon, senior vice-president, corporate media director, who is based in Montreal.
Steckel, most recently an advertising and marketing consultant, was president and director of the now defunct Majestic Electronics Stores from 1991 to 1993 and before that was president of Grey Retail.
