Scott Paper under review

Scott Paper of Canada had already begun an agency review last month when long-time agency J. Walter Thompson of Toronto was given the word from its U.S. parent that the business was in conflict with the agency’s new global client, Kimberly-Clark of Texas.

Gail Walker, vice-president of marketing for Scott Paper of Mississauga, Ont., says the company started the process with an eye to consolidating its account with one of its agencies, JWT or Bozell Worldwide.

Walker says it’s still a two-horse race because JWT’s sister agency, Enterprise Creative Selling, is now under consideration.

She expects to make a final decision around the end of the month.

Scott makes and markets brands such as Cottonelle, Viva and Scott through a licensing agreement with Kimberly-Clark, as well as its own brands Purex, White Swan and Capri.

Bozell has been handling Cottonelle, the brand getting the most support with more than $2 million in annual spending.
