Carolyn Meacher has been appointed VP, marketing communications at Rogers AT&T in Toronto. Prior to joining Rogers AT&T, Meacher was SVP and managing partner of BBDO Canada.

Mississauga, Ont.-based USC Education Savings Plans has appointed Jean Pierre Trottier as the new VP, sales and marketing. Trottier previously worked for such companies as Avon Canada, Princess House and Excel Canada.

AGENCIES

Lance Smith has been named president and COO of New York-based advertising agency Cossette Post, a subsidiary of Canada’s Cossette Communication Group. Smith, who was formerly president of D’Arcy New York, will be responsible for Cossette Post’s total operations. Meanwhile, some top management positions have been changed as a result of Smith’s appointment: Chairman Frank Sampogna, CD Steve Crane, and director of media services Richard Lefkowitz have added the title of managing partner to their functional titles.

David Cravit has been appointed EVP for Padulo Integrated, located in Toronto. Most recently Cravit has been working in the U.S. as a consultant.

Julie Gervais has been named director of radio/television service for Montreal-based PALM Publicité Marketing. Gervais previously worked at Kissfilms where she was VP and executive producer.

Jacob Varughese has joined St. John’s, Nfld.-based Target Marketing & Communications as account director. Varughese previously worked in senior-level account and agency management positions with agency groups such as DDB and Saatchi & Saatchi.

In Toronto, Gee Jeffery & Partners Advertising (GJP) has hired a new creative team. Sandi Gidluck joins as senior art director while Irfan Khan has been appointed senior copywriter. Gidluck has held art director posts with JWT and Cossette while Khan hails from One Company.

Ben Chin and Sarika Sehgal have joined Craig Media’s TORONTO 1 to host the station’s flagship newsmagazine show Toronto Tonight.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Hill & Knowlton Canada in Toronto has announced the appointment of Yvonne Burnside as Toronto group leader, health and pharmaceutical practice. Meanwhile, Selena Gardner has been promoted to account director, health and pharmaceutical practice.

Toronto-based public relations firm Argyle Rowland Communications has announced the appointment of Roanne Argyle as VP. Argyle has lead many major food industry accounts including Quiznos Sub and So Good soy beverages.
