Appleton Estate picks BBDO as AOR

The Toronto agency will handle traditional, digital and social advertising for the rum brand.

BBDO Canada has been named AOR for Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum, following a competitive review.

The agency will handle the brand’s national traditional advertising, as well as digital and social efforts in Canada. The brand previously worked with Huxley Quayle von Bismark, according to Darcy Zupko, national brand manager for Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum. 

The selection follows a competitive review of a number of agencies late last year, according to the release. The agency picked up the account earlier this year in January, and the first batch of creative is expected to hit the streets in 2014.

“With more than 250 years of heritage to build on, we look forward to helping take Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum through the next stage of its storied history,” said Gerry Frascione, chairman of BBDO, in the release.

The brand is owned by Gruppo Campari, makers of other liquors including Campari, Aperol and Wild Turkey whiskey.
