Amazon’s proved that price-checking is a big purchase motivator for shoppers these days. But the technology company isn’t the only one playing in the price comparison space. There’s also Shopbot, a website that helps thrifty shoppers to find the best deals out there.
Never heard of it before? Well, that may change, now that DS+P has been named its agency of record and will begin working on advertising for its price comparison product for the fall.
“They are the type of agency that can come up with something that will disrupt the market, which is something we’re really looking for, for our project this year,” says Monika Hajzokova, Canada sales director for Shopbot.
The agency won the account against several others that took part in the review process, though Hajzokova would not disclose which agencies.
Shopbot is a 10-year-old company, having launched in Canada 2004, with the aim to change “the way people research and shop online” by providing consumers tools to compare prices of products from electronics to appliances to home decor. The company has offices in Toronto, Sydney, Australia, Paris and Sao Paolo.
It plays a role in connecting online shoppers with its around 450 retail partners, either based in Canada or U.S. retailers with a footprint in Canada, including Staples, Sears and Hudson’s Bay, aggregating around seven million products on its site.
The company wants to drive more traffic to its website and raise awareness, as traffic at present is mostly organic, Hajzokova says.
