While Chantal Broten (second from left) remains CEO of Jan Kelley, its other owners have new roles at the company. Josiah Shelley (far left) is now chief growth officer, Geoff Redwood (second from right) is now chief operating officer and Shannon Ballard is now chief strategy officer.
Three of independent agency Jan Kelley’s four owners are assuming new roles at the company amid a slew of promotions to its senior leadership team.
While Chantal Broten will remain CEO of the agency, co-owners Shannon Ballard, Geoff Redwood and Josiah Shelley are each assuming new titles and responsibilities. Ballard, previously VP of customer innovation, has been named chief strategy officer; Redwood has been promoted from creative director to chief operating officer, and Shelley has been promoted from VP of digital strategy to chief growth officer.
In addition to the new roles for its ownership, the agency has promoted a number of new faces into its senior leadership team.
Kate Petrie (bottom left, in photo at right) and Mike Llewellin (centre) have been promoted into the role of CD, replacing Redwood. They will work collaboratively to lead the next generation of creative talent at the more than century-old agency. Both had previously served as ACDs with the company.
Meanwhile, Kamila Karwowski (top right) has been promoted to senior director of strategy. In that role she will develop the agency’s account and growth planning approaches and identify key priorities and opportunities for growth, while also guiding clients and teams at the agency and supporting its positioning.
In addition, Alirio Alvarez (top left) has been elevated from director of media solutions to senior director of digital strategy and will help support Jan Kelley’s growing performance digital and creative practice, and Travis MacDougall (bottom right) has been promoted to senior director of digital performance in recognition of his existing role managing media budgets for the agency’s clients.
The new roles follow several years of growth at the agency, which went independent in 2019 when the four purchased WPP’s minority stake in the company after buying the agency from former owners Jim Letwin and Ken Nicholson, who continued to advise them. The Burlington-based agency has just won new work from Cornerstone Building Brands, and already lists Mitsubishi Canada, Ply Gem and Saven Financial, among others, as clients.
