Publicis Groupe Canada has appointed Leah Lanza its new SVP, chief production officer.
Lanza is replacing Nuno Bamberg, who left for Sleep Country Canada last fall to become the retailer’s SVP, brand and marketing.
The hiring, the shop says, is in recognition of the ever-growing role of production in delivering the contemporary needs of marketers in Canada. Publicis Groupe Canada reports that business has experienced “significant growth across all channels and it has begun to diversify beyond straight production, serving more and more of the broader marketing needs” of its clients.
Lanza will lead strategic oversight for all production units in Canada with primary responsibility for The Pub, Publicis Canada’s production division. She enters the role with more than 17 years of industry expertise across assignments and categories in brand, retail, social and content, as well as experiential and corporate sponsorships.
Her contributions have produced work for Bell, Virgin Plus, No Frills, Nissan and The Heart & Stroke Foundation. Currently she heads the multicultural portfolio for the Bell Mobility brands, Lucky Mobile and Virgin Plus’ loyalty and social impact program. Prior to joining the telco, she was VP, group account director for Leo Burnett and also previously led on Mitsubishi Motors Canada for John St.
In her new capacity, Lanza will spearhead what Publicis says is a unique offering in the market, leveraging more than 275 talented experts, purpose-built post-production studios and a 13,000-square-foot shooting stage.
“[Her] appointment reflects the changing role our production offering plays in North America,” says Brett McIntosh, president of Publicis Toronto. “Our staff also includes strategists and creative talent as we are often asked to take full responsibility for the implementation of existing campaign platforms and territories throughout the funnel.”
