British Columbia Nurses’ Union is once again celebrating the dedication its members provide to patients over the Christmas season.
The “Home for the Holidays” campaign launch spot, set to “Carol of the Bells,” tells the story of a young patient battling a severe respiratory illness, supported by a steadfast adult later revealed to be a B.C. nurse, with the simple closing message, “thank you, nurses.”
“Nurses are highly skilled and technically proficient professionals,” says Cam Landell, president of Wasserman, the union’s longtime Vancouver-based creative agency partner. “One of the things that’s remarkable about their work is their ability to apply that expertise while also providing compassionate care.”
“There’s a reason nurses are synonymous with care,” adds Neil Shapiro, creative director of Wasserman. “If we can’t be there for our loved ones, there’s no one we’d rather turn to.”
The campaign includes television, out-of-home, digital banners, social posts, and a radio spot thanking nurses, in which a bleeping heart monitor sound morphs into “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” from The Nutcracker.
Media for the campaign was also handled by Wasserman.
The campaign launched this week and will run until Jan. 5.
Last year’s holiday spot for the BC Nurses’ Union depicted familial memory-making holiday scenes such as opening gifts and counting down to New Year’s Eve, but with a key family member missing each time, commemorating the profession’s dedication to working over the holidays. It also ended by thanking nurses.
