YTV using Burnett

ytv has hired Leo Burnett of Toronto on a project basis to handle launch advertising for its fall season.

The youth-oriented tv specialty service split with TAXI Advertising, its agency of four years, in April.

A spokesperson for the network says an agency review won’t be held until a new vice-president of marketing is hired to replace Susan Ross.

Ross has been named vice-president and general manager of TreeHouse TV, a subsidiary of YTV Canada, but is handling the ytv role during the search for a replacement.

TreeHouse TV, a commercial-free service for preschoolers, is likely to launch sometime next year.

Ross says she is studying business plans and industry issues, such as digital television, before making firm plans on a launch date or hiring an ad agency.

She says the new service will fill the current gap in programming for children six and under that is evident in early evenings and weekends.

Later in the evening, TreeHouse will be devoted to parenting programming and will carry commercials.
