Calif.-based InfoImaging Technologies has added several dimensions to the computer fax with the recent launch of 3D Fax, a software application for personal computers.
The 3D Fax allows users to send multimedia files including text, color photography, sound and full-motion video from one computer to another by standard fax transmission.
Files sent directly to a fax machine produce an unreadable document that is restored to its original content and format when scanned into a computer using an optical flat-bed scanner.
The received file is opened in the same software application in which it was created without the need for optical character recognition software.
The 3D Fax also cuts fax transmission time by 90% using compression and advanced image processing technologies.
This means as much as 40 kilobytes of compressed memory, or a 30-page document, can be transmitted as a single page of 3D Fax data.
To encourage widespread use of 3D Fax, InfoImaging is offering 3D Fax Freeware, which provides full-read capability and partial-send capability at no charge.
It can be downloaded via the Internet at http://www.infoimaging.com.
Ads are appearing in six top North American computer magazines for the complete products 3D Fax Standard and 3D Fax Professional, which can be bought through a 1-800 number. PS
