VW agency to open in T.O.

The Volkswagen Canada business will be handled out of the new Toronto office of Boston-based Arnold Fortuna Lawner & Cabot.

Arnold Fortuna Lawner picked up the US$90 million North American account last month.

Tom Lawson, Arnold Fortuna managing partner heading up the entire account, expects the Toronto agency to open by summer.

But Lawson says it is too early to say whether it will have a creative component in addition to account service and media buying.

In Canada, regional and dealer assignments were recently realigned.

Moreland & Associates, of Vancouver, which previously had only the Western Canada business, is now handling all English creative.

Media Buying Services, of Toronto, handles the Ontario buying, while it is Moreland’s responsibility elsewhere.

Gee Jeffery & Partners of Toronto previously had the Ontario and Eastern Canada assignment.

The other vw assignments include creative and media and remained unchanged: PALM Publicite Marketing, of Montreal, has the entire Quebec account; Terry O Communications, of Toronto, takes care of the ethnic Chinese market; Exhibits International, of Toronto, handles trade show requirements, and McKinney & Silver, of Raleigh, n.c., is responsible for Audi of America in Canada and the u.s.
