Quebecers buy out Y&R Mtl.

Control of Young & Rubicam, Ltee, the Montreal office of Young & Rubicam Advertising Worldwide, has transferred to Quebec.

Madeleine Saint-Jacques, president, and Louis-Eric Vallee, executive vice-president and managing director are taking over majority ownership.

The agency has been renamed Saint-Jacques Vallee Young & Rubicam.

y&r keeps a minority interest, and the Montreal agency remains part of the worldwide network.

The change is expected to strengthen the agency’s positioning as a French-language agency and help grow its business in the Quebec market.

Saint-Jacques celebrates her 40th anniversary with y&r this year.

She became creative director in 1970, was managing director and executive vice-president from 1977 to 1989, and, in 1990, was named president.

Vallee joined y&r, Montreal in 1977.

In 1984, he worked as account director on Colgate-Palmolive for y&r, Paris.

From 1986 to 1989, he was director of client services on Bombardier, Ford Motor, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Thomas J. Lipton.

Vallee became managing director in 1990, and executive vice-president in 1993. PS
