Business as usual at Griffen T.O. shop

Toronto ad agency Griffin Bacal Volny will not be affected by the acquisition of parent company New York-based Griffin Bacal by DDB Needham Worldwide.

The agency, headed by president and part-owner Peter Volny, was formed in January 1993 by the merger of Paul Phelan & Perry, which was wholly owned by Volny, and Griffin Bacal.

Griffin Bacal will keep its name worldwide and continue to operate separately in North America and the u.k.

In other markets around the world, Griffin Bacal will serve clients such as Hasbro from DDB Needham offices.

Griffin Bacal, established in 1978, has annual billings of $250 million worldwide from offices in Toronto, New York, London, Athens and Mexico City.

Clients include Borden, Carlsberg, Tetley, Hasbro, Kenner, Mercury Marine, Milton Bradley, ngk, Parker Brothers and Playskool.

DDB Needham Worldwide has 178 offices in 62 countries, with annual billings of $6.1 billion.

DDB Needham Canada has offices in Toronto, Montreal, and an affiliate in Calgary.
