McKim lands Stentor, CIBC jobs

McKim Baker Lovick/BBDO has been rewarded for good work with expanded assignments from two existing clients, Stentor and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

The agency has been chosen to handle creative for the launch of the Hello! Phone Pass for Stentor, previously a media-only client.

Hello!, a prepaid long-distance phone card, will be tested in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver beginning this month through to March and, if successful, will be rolled out across Canada next spring.

Stentor is an alliance of Canada’s nine largest telephone companies.

CIBC Insurance, a new wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, picked mbl/bbdo from a short-list of three agencies used by its parent company.

Taking part were mbl/bbdo, cibc’s corporate agency; Harrod & Mirlin, which handles rrsp campaigns and other projects; and The Gingko Group, which takes care of securities advertising and other investment campaigns.

All are Toronto agencies.

cibc also uses Direct Solutions Group, a division of Padulo Advertising, and Russo for direct marketing and Ford Motor Company of Canada’s agency, Young & Rubicam, for the new CIBC Ford Visa Card.

Direct mail will be a key part of the marketing plan because, according to regulations, the insurance division must operate as a free-standing company and cannot distribute its insurance products through the bank branches.
