McCormick opens V&B subsidiary

Mike McCormick, president of Vickers & Benson Direct, moved to New York City earlier this month to open a subsidiary of the Toronto agency called M.J. McCormick Direct.

McCormick says there is a lot of potential in the u.s. for direct mail because of the profitability of being able to send out six million direct mail pieces as opposed to 600,000.

‘The total market in English Canada is 16 million,’ McCormick says.

‘Those numbers could be reached in one u.s. state alone, such as Pennsylvania, while the entire seven million French Canada market would equal one mailing in New York City,’ he says.

McCormick, head of V&B Direct for four years, joined the agency more than 11 years ago as creative director.

Before that, he was a freelancer in Montreal for 11 years before moving to Toronto to handle creative for Maclean Hunter consumer magazines. PS
