Overview of account wins

– Deacon Day Advertising, Toronto, has landed the $4-million Braun Canada account, previously with Backer Spielvogel Bates.

Deacon Day is part of The Lowe Group, based in London, which has the account for the Frankfurt-based small appliance manufacturer in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, England and the u.s.

About 75% of Braun Canada’s media budget is spent on tv, primarily during the fall and pre-Christmas periods.

– A new account win has also been announced by Prism Communications, Toronto.

AT&T Consumer Products has chosen the agency to handle its Canadian advertising for corded, cordless and cellular phones; answering systems; the Vidcophone; and the EO440 personal communicator.

Prism will be working closely with New York-based N. W. Ayer, AT&T’s U.S. agency, which was instrumental in choosing the Canadian agency.

– A review held over the past few months has ended with Media Buying Services of Toronto keeping the Paramount Pictures (Canada) business, an account it has handled for the past six years.

Other Toronto agencies in the running for the media assignment were Cossette Communication-Marketing, Harrison Young Pesonen & Newell, McKim Advertising and Ogilvy & Mather.

In the u.s., o&m handles Paramount in New York and Los Angeles, in conjunction with several regional offices.

– A decision has also been reached by The Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario Division.

The organization has completed its review and chosen Manifest Communications of Toronto from a short-list of three agencies.

Client and agency will use the summer to plan the strategy for an anti-stigma campaign expected to launch this fall.
