JW&R off to good start with drug client

JW&R Advertising is the name of the new agency resulting from the buyout of Gall Advertising, of Brampton, Ont., a shop specializing in healthcare and ethical pharmaceutical clients since 1984.

Principals of the new agency are: Ken Johnston, senior vice-president, director of client services and former director of client services at Saffer; Lily Wong, vice-president account director, in partnership with Toronto-based Ian Roberts Advertising.

Last month, the new group was awarded the $5-million Drug Trading Company business previously with Saffer Advertising.

Drug Trading operates nearly 400 i.d.a. and Guardian drugstores across Canada.

In addition to Drug Trading, jw&r retains former Gall clients Anachemia Science, Hoffmann La-Roche, Miles Canada, Roberts Pharmaceutical of Canada and Upjohn.

The other officers of the company are Chief Executive Officer Michael Vasquez, chief financial officer and executive vice-president of Ian Roberts, and Barry Campbell, Ian Roberts’ president and creative director.

Key staff members include Ernie Axani, former vice-president, general manager of Gall, as director of medical services, and former vice-president creative Bill Hambly, now managing director.

Alan Gold is senior art director, Rick Brown, designer.
