EpiPen helps ensure everyone is invited for the holidays

EpiPen has partnered with celebrity chef Chuck Hughes for its “Everyone’s Invited” campaign, to make sure gatherings with family and friends are safe and inclusive as the holiday season gets underway.

The campaign recognizes that food is at the centre of holiday traditions, which can be challenging for more than 2.5 million Canadians navigating food allergies, and seven million Canadians dealing with intolerances.

“Food is a big part of celebrations all around the world,” said Hughes, who is also a television personality and restauranteur, in a press release. “It’s how we connect with each other. When I host, I want all my guests to share in the experience, so I plan a menu I know everyone can enjoy.”

The “Everyone’s Invited” website includes allergen-friendly recipes that Hughes developed exclusively for the campaign. It also features tips on how to prepare for unforeseen allergic reactions, including the importance of having an up-to-date EpiPen on hand to treat an anaphylactic reaction.

“Our campaign encourages people in Canada to be allergen-conscious hosts at holiday gatherings,” says Christina Antoniou, director of external communications and corporate affairs lead for Pfizer Canada. “Communication and preparation are key to being an allergen-conscious host. Partnering with a well-known chef was the perfect fit for EpiPen, because Chef Chuck Hughes has focused on being the most welcoming host for over 15 years – as a restauranteur and food TV personality.”

The campaign rolled out with Hughes as the spokesperson, speaking via broadcast media partnerships, and by partnering with digital publications. Pfizer also partnered with others who have a connection with food allergies and intolerances to spread the word across on social media.
