CIBC reviews account

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce has served notice that it is expanding its agency roster and putting some of its advertising business under review, including its $33-million-plus media buying and planning account and a strategic branding assignment.

A search consultant, to be hired within the next two months, will handle the process.

The bank is also assessing its French-language services, direct mail, interactive, collateral and point of purchase needs and may put those components out for bid early next year.

CIBC’s existing agency, Padulo Integrated of Toronto, will be invited to take part and will continue to handle the bank’s business into next year. Padulo will also retain mass media creative duties for all of the bank’s individual business lines.

Padulo began working with CIBC as its direct response agency seven years ago and was awarded all of the bank’s business in 1994.
