CLIENTS:
* Jennifer Hurlbut has been promoted to senior brand manager, kid portfolio, Frosted Flakes and Corn Pops, at Kellogg Canada. Hurlbut has been with the cereal maker for two years. Prior to joining Kellogg, Hurlbut held a marketing position with Hershey Canada.
AGENCIES:
* Zak Mroueh has signed on as associate creative director with TAXI Advertising & Design in Toronto. Mroueh comes from nearly three years as group creative director at BBDO Canada. He spent the previous two years with McCann-Erickson in the U.K. Mroueh has won more than 250 creative awards, including a gold and silver at Cannes.
* Turbulence Communications, an independent agency backed by Toronto-based MacLaren McCann, is open for business. The firm will be operated by its three principals: president Geoff Arnoldi, most recently international business development leader at Publicis Canada; executive VP, creative director Rick Davis, who comes from MacLaren McCann, where he was chief creative officer; and senior VP planning David Duncan, who was most recently VP, planning with Publicis Canada.
MEDIA:
* Torstar, publisher of The Toronto Star, has set up a new division – the Torstar Daily Newspaper Advertising Group – to serve the expanded territory created by the company’s recent purchase of The Kitchener-Waterloo Record, The Hamilton Spectator, The Cambridge Reporter and The Guelph Mercury. Wayne Clifton has been appointed senior advertising director. Jim McManus has been named group director for major retail chains, while Mark Spencer takes on the role of group director for national advertising, Internet sales and travel. Judy Master, meanwhile, has been named advertising director for the Star itself.
NEW MEDIA:
* Digital Renaissance has appointed Penny Wilson president and COO. Wilson comes to Digital Renaissance from Alias/Wavefront, where she served as president.
