Paul Lavoie named first Canadian jury president at Cannes

Taxi’s Paul Lavoie will be marking a first for Canada at the 57th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. On December 2nd the agency’s chairman and chief creative officer was named as the festival’s Radio President, the first Canadian ever to preside over an award category at Cannes.

‘People are recognizing Canada as a much more creative space and that can only enhance us on the global scene,’ says Lavoie of his appointment. ‘I hope that this is just the beginning of something that continues.’

Joining Lavoie as newly named jury chairs are: Laura Desmond, global chief executive officer of Starcom Mediavest Group, as Media President, and Tay Guan Hin, regional executive creative director at JWT Asia, as Outdoor President. The 57th edition of the renowned advertising to-do kicks off on the 20th of June, 2010.
