General Electric really rocks in the television campaign used to launch its new line of washing machines earlier this month.
The advertising, from Sharpe Blackmore of Toronto, was designed to highlight the washers’ Auto Balance Suspension System, which stabilizes the machines and virtually eliminates off-balanced loads.
Split 15-sec. spots are running on daytime television in Toronto and Vancouver, with a French version running in Montreal through mid-December.
Outdoor has been added to the mix in Toronto and Montreal with daily newspaper support in Vancouver.
The first 15-sec. commercial shows a shaking, rattling washing machine topped with a bust of Elvis, gyrating to rock ‘n’ roll.
The second spot is set to the strains of classical music and features the tranquil ge machine adorned with a bust of Beethoven. The voice-over says, ‘The new machines from ge don’t shake, rattle or roll.’
