Check it out: Ikea’s culinary celebration

The retailer brings back a fan-favourite character for a new campaign about everyday life in the kitchen.

Canada’s favourite cranky Nonna is back.

Ikea Canada has brought back the loveable – if slightly terrifying – grandmother for its new “It Starts with the Food” campaign. Nonna’s first TV spot launched in 2014 and has become a “fan favourite” according to Ikea. In its new spot from Leo Burnett, aptly named “Nonna II,” the woman and her family are back and cooking up a storm, part of the retailer’s move to celebrate the everyday special moments of life in the kitchen.

“This coming year you will see a renewed emphasis on Kitchen, Dining and Ikea Food,” Stefan Sjöstrand, Ikea Canada’s president said in a press release. “We are also investing in our existing stores with the remodelling of our accessory departments and cookshops to create an inspirational and exciting customer shopping experience.”

Earlier this year, Ikea introduced the Sektion kitchen system, which is meant to be customizable to a variety of spaces. The retailer is currently undergoing an expansion of its click-and-collect locations across the country as well.
