Evans Hunt makes key promotions to foster growth

Evans Hunt has named a new member of its leadership team as one of three key promotions at the Calgary-based creative agency as it positions for growth.

Sarah Gay, previously lead of Evans Hunt’s client engagement team, has been named the agency’s head of growth and joins its now 10-person leadership team.

Gay has been with Evans Hunt for a decade, having joined it from Trigger in 2013. In recent years, she has led on accounts in the travel and tourism sector that include Travel Alberta, Pursuit and Iceland’s Sky Lagoon. In her new role, she will lead the agency’s business development initiatives, brand marketing and external communications.

Meanwhile, Evans Hunt is also looking to further expand its business in the U.S. market and to that end, it has named Michael Oliver its new managing director for U.S. growth and partnerships.

Oliver, previously a client partner at the agency, will now be tasked with building out the agency’s expansion plans south of the border and developing new, strategic partnerships there. This is a natural step forward for Oliver, who had been working on new business for several of Evans Hunt’s U.S. clients and also developing its relationships with existing clients including Alterra Mountain Company and Glassdoor.

Rounding out the promotions and replacing Gay in her former role is Lisa Gibbs, who has been with the agency for the past seven years.

These latest promotions are just further steps in the growth of the agency, which has expanded from two people in 2008 – founders and managing partners Dan Evans and Bill Hunt – to 120 today.

The agency has built “some great momentum over the past 15 years,” according to Gay, and boasts “a deep roster of large U.S. clients” where it has “produced some of our finest work,” according to Oliver.

“Sarah and Michael have been with us for many years and have played a huge role in our growth and success in Canada and globally,” adds Hunt. “They are relentless in their pursuit of the highest quality product for our clients, and we know that will continue to be felt by our clients, old and new. I know both of them will have an impressive impact on Evans Hunt’s future.”
