Small AOY winners Angry Butterfly, Lifelong Crush and Mackie Biernacki had a big year

This week, we will be rolling out profiles of this year’s Agency of the Year winners. Check out the winners in other categories here.

Last week, we featured stories from the Fall print edition of Strategy Magazine, starting with what made the Media Agency of the Year winners shine. Yesterday, we highlighted the Agency winners. Today, it’s the Small AOY winners turn.

First up, Angry Butterfly picked up the Gold Small Agency trophy in part for its “Next to Stok’d” campaign for Stok’d Cannabis, which cleverly navigated Canada’s strict Cannabis Act prohibiting direct cannabis advertising. But that was just one part of the four-year-old agency’s epic year.

The Silver runner-up was Lifelong Crush, which continues to create a name for itself after beginning as a supporting act for parent co. Broken Heart Love Affair. Now, LLC is doing groundbreaking work for Kruger with the “Cashmere Collection” and the “Ultraluxe Bathroom Guide.”

Mackie Biernacki is another small agency making big moves, picking up a Bronze, in part, for its “Adulting Is Hard. Sonnet Is Simple” campaign for Sonnet Insurance and the “Science of Natural” work for The Harrington Method.
