Lg2, Leo Burnett take top prizes at ADCC awards

Lg2, Leo Burnett and Untitled Films were the big winners at Thursday night’s Advertising & Design Club of Canada (ADCC) awards, taking home the Scarlet Letter prizes in addition to numerous other awards.

Lg2 won the Scarlet Letter for Agency of the Year and picked up two Golds at the 66th annual Directions show, held at Koerner Hall at the Telus Centre for Performance and Learning in Toronto. The agency also picked up two Golds.

Leo Burnett took home two Scarlet Letters, for Interactive Agency of the Year and Design Studio of the Year, making it three in a row in the latter category. The agency also won nine Golds.

Untitled Films, meanwhile, won the Scarlet Letter for Production Company of the Year.

The 2016 Les Usherwood Award for lifetime achievement went to Barry Blitt, a cartoonist and illustrator known for his New Yorker covers and other work that has appeared in major publications including The New York Times Magazine and The Atlantic.

In total, 321 awards were given out across the Scarlet Letter, Gold, Silver and Merit levels in categories covering advertising, graphic design, editorial and book design, and interactive. The Scarlet Letter winners are determined through a points system that accounts for the number of wins across categories.

Other Gold winners included John St. (3), Grey (2), Ogilvy & Mather, Sid Lee, Cundari, FCB Toronto, Giants & Gentlemen, Bleublancrouge, DDB Canada, Jam3, BBDO, Rethink and Grip.
