Red refreshes

Following the hiring of Craig Redmond as its new CD in the fall to help lead growth in its Vancouver office, Red the Agency has some new creative leadership at its home base.

While Redmond splits his time between the two agency offices in Vancouver and Edmonton, Randy Cronin, partner and director of strategy at Red, said at the time his main focus would be Vancouver, which opened in 2007. Now, to lead the creative department in the agency’s Edmonton office, Red has promoted art director Nigel Hood and hired writer Scott Issac as its new ACDs. Hood joined Red over five years ago, while Issac, who was born and raised in Calgary, has spent most of his career working in Singapore, most recently as a freelancer but also as an ACD at Euro RSCG (now Havas Worldwide) and group head at Saatchi & Saatchi and TBWA Singapore.

Back in Vancouver, the agency has moved into a new, larger office space on West Hastings in the city’s downtown. It has also recently picked up several new business wins in the city, including public service work for Metro Vancouver and the Greater Vancouver District, as well as web design work for Warwick International Hotels, which motivated the need for more space. Between the two offices, Red now has 30 staff members.

Finally, the agency has also debuted a new website. In addition to “better expressing the agency’s identity,” according to the press release, the home page asks visitors a different question every day (ranging from “are newspapers dead?” to “are you a hipster hater?”). The resulting data will be compiled into an infographic-filled coffee table book for clients.

“My guys said they wanted the site to be truly alive and provoke its visitors every single day of the year,” Redmond said in a release. “Red is all about consumer inspiration, so why shouldn’t our website be too?”
