Moneris partners with Razorfish

Payment tech provider Moneris has selected Razorfish Toronto to develop and execute a new digital strategy, including the design of a new digital platform.

Established in 2000 as a joint venture between RBC and BMO, Moneris is currently the largest processor of debit and credit purchases in Canada with over three billion transactions per year. The first company to process purchases made with both Interac Online and EMV smart debit and credit cards in Canada, Moneris also now deploys new payment tech for businesses across North America. This has included e- and m-commerce, as well as the expansion of the PAYD and PAYD Pro mobile POS platforms into the U.S. earlier this August.

Coming after a competitive review, the first step of Razorfish’s work will be the development of a new web platform to help small and large businesses get information on, and acquire, new payment technology. The new platform will be accessible in both the U.S. and Canada.

“The expectations, both with B2B and B2C customers, is that they can do transactions anywhere, at any time,” says Brian Clarey, VP of client partnerships at Razorfish Toronto. “So these platforms are becoming more important, both in terms of providing that capability and an experience that’s engaging and simple on every device, or in-store. As they improve on their current platform, they’re looking to see what changes need to be made on the experience and technology sides and ultimately bring that together in a new, engaging online experience.”

“Geographically, we’ve been focused more on the Canadian market, but being moved within the Razorfish family now, we can see it as more of a seamless North American market,” Clarey says. “Moneris is headquartered in Canada, which is where they’re aligned with us, but it opens up the possibility of doing work more broadly [in North America], for sure.”
