Meridian hires Matthew Seagrim to lead marketing and digital transformation

Meridian is eyeing considerable evolution of its digital platforms, and it has tapped a highly recognized name in digital marketing to lead the charge with the hiring of Matthew Seagrim as its chief digital and marketing officer.

At Meridian, Seagrim’s role will be “key in helping articulate our new strategy, ‘Meridian for Good,’ as we continue to evolve our journey as a relevant financial partner with digital and business savvy,” says Jay-Ann Gilfoy, president and CEO of the credit union. “Our extensive search for a strong digital, technology and marketing leader to help us achieve our long-term goals led us to Matthew. All good things are worth waiting for and we’re delighted to have him on board.”

Specifically, Seagrim is tasked with steering the brand’s new corporate strategy through both its digital functions – including IT and data – as well as marketing. He will help the brand develop its narrative and integrate its digital platforms to create an omnichannel experience for members, while also launching and refining a partnership strategy in tandem with the credit union’s tech and digital investments to improve upon its member experience.

Seagrim joins the organization with a wealth of experience leading major loyalty brand Scene+ through a digital evolution that grew that business by more than 80%. During his tenure with Scene+, the program redefined its brand and value proposition, shifted toward a digital first model and invested in key technologies that drove flexibility and automation. It also attracted new partnerships with the likes of the NBA and Empire, the grocery company that bought a stake in the program last June.

He also brings experience from TD, Citibank and PC Financial.

“Relationships and trust are defining elements of how Meridian engages with its members and customers,” Seagrim says. “Connecting with people both personally and digitally is how we can reach and serve more people and help make their goals a reality.”
